There are certain times when it is important to immediately see an eye doctor. At our vision practice, Edmonds, Husz & Pemberton Eye Center, we welcome emergency eye visits when patients have a reason they need to immediately see one of our top-notch optometrists – just one of whom is Dr. Charles Edmonds. Our Catalina Foothills eye doctor urges you to contact our office when you have any signs of a possible eye infection or other vision problems.

If you have an eye infection, it is important that you come in to see our Catalina Foothills eye doctor on an emergency basis. This is because an eye infection can go on to cause many serious vision problems if not quickly treated. If your eye has become red and itchy, or you have a bloody or colored discharge from your eye, you probably have an eye infection. Keratitis is a common eye infection of contact lens wearers. It can be caused by using poorly-cleaned contact lenses, or by patients touching their eyes, or inserting or removing contact lenses, when their hands are not freshly-washed. Keratitis can usually be treated with antibiotic eye drops if it is of a bacterial nature. If you have sudden flashes of light in your eyes, accompanied by a sudden increase in the number of floaters, it is important that you come in for an eye exam right away. This can be a sign of a retinal tear that can lead to a detached retina. If you experience any sudden clouding of vision, or sudden vision loss, time is of the essence. Make sure our office staff knows your situation so they can provide you with an immediate appointment. Headaches, eye strain, or blurred vision are also reasons to see our eye doctor.

For an appointment to see our Catalina Foothills eye doctor, contact our office and let them know the exact reason for your call so an emergency eye appointment can be arranged, if necessary.
